WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES JESUS MAKE!

BOLD CLAIMS

April 31, 2024  Sam Goins

Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6

“The Truth will set you free…  And if the Son sets you free, you will be really free!” – Jesus

John 8:32, 36 (GN)

“You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31,32 (NLT)

“I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.” John 8:12 (NLT)

WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES JESUS’ RESURRECTION MAKE?

1.  HE FREES ME FROM THE PAIN OF MY PAST

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and He saves those whose spirits have been crushed.”  Psalms 34:18 (NCV)

“All of us have sinned… yet God declares us ‘not guilty’ if we trust in Jesus Christ, who in His mercy freely takes away our sins.”  Romans 3:23-24 (TLB)

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death. Romans 8:1,2 (NLT)

“Put your heart right, reach out to God… then face the world again, firm and courageous.  Then all your troubles will fade from your memory like floods that are past and remembered no more.”  Job 11:13-16 (GN)

2.  HIS PROVIDES POWER TO DEAL WITH THE PRESSURES OF TODAY

“God never grows faint or weary…  He gives power to those who are tired and worn out.”  Isaiah 40:28-29 (NLT)

“I'm ready for anything through the strength of Christ who lives in me.”  Philippians 4:13 (Ph)

Jesus:  “Are you tired?  Worn out?  Burned out on religion?  Come to Me for real rest… and you’ll recover your life... and you’ll learn to live… freely and lightly.  Matthew 11:28-29 (Mes)

3.  HE GIVES HOPE FOR MY FUTURE (FREEDOM FROM WORRY)

Jesus told her, “Your brother will rise again.” “Yes,” Martha said, “he will rise when everyone else rises, at the last day.” Jesus told her, “I am the resurrection and the life.  Anyone who believes in me will live, even after dying.  Everyone who lives in me and believes in me will never ever die. Do you believe this, Martha?” “Yes, Lord,” she told him. “I have always believed you are the Messiah, the Son of God, the one who has come into the world from God.”  John 11:23-27

WHAT IS KEEPING YOU FROM FOLLOWING JESUS?

So we have stopped evaluating others from a human point of view. At one time we thought of Christ merely from a human point of view. How differently we know him now! This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him.             2 Corinthians 5:16-18 (NLT)
