BACKPACK FOOD DRIVE

New Kent Elementary school is doing a backpack program that helps impoverished children to take a backpack filled with food items on Fridays so they will have something to eat during the weekend when school is out. This program, led by Mr. David Baum, who is the assistant principal of the school and who also attends our church, started with 17 families growing to 76 families this year. Many families are helping with this beautiful mission of getting these children's backpacks filled with necessary food items before thanksgiving break.

We invite you to this opportunity if you can help buy any of the food items below and bring them to church this Sunday ( 11/7) and next Sunday (11/14) so the backpacks can be filled up by Friday, 11/ 19 before the school breaks for Thanksgiving. Please note that these cannot be bulk items or large-sized as they should be able to fit in a backpack. The children bring nice sturdy rolling backpacks that can be filled with food discreetly so these children won't face any judgment by other children and we are trying to help them have enough stock before the long week of Thanksgiving. Thanks to the many families that are helping organize this food drive and helping a child in need!

As a generous and loving church, please consider helping to donate the food items from the list below to help a child and his/ her family during this Thanksgiving.

Matthew 25: 35- 40- For I was hungry, and you fed me. I was thirsty, and you gave me a drink. I was a stranger, and you invited me into your home.  I was naked, and you gave me clothing. I was sick, and you cared for me. I was in prison, and you visited me.’ “Then these righteous ones will reply, ‘Lord, when did we ever see you hungry and feed you? Or thirsty and give you something to drink? Or a stranger and show you hospitality? Or naked and give you clothing? When did we ever see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“And the King will say, ‘I tell you the truth when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!’
