For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”    Matthew 20:28 NLT

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.    Philippians 2:3-7NIV

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.     1 Peter 4:10,11NIV

  1. S – SEE PEOPLE’S NEEDS

"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others."   Philippians 2:4 ESV

2.  E – EXEMPLIFY JESUS THROUGH SERVICE

But Jesus called them together and said,“You know that the rulers in this world lord it over their people, and officials flaunt their authority over those under them.26But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant,27and whoever wants to be first among you must become your slave.28For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”     Matthew 20:25-28 NLT

3. R – RESPOND WITH IMMEDIATE ACTION

What good is it, dear brothers and sisters, if you say you have faith but don’t show it with actions?  Can that kind of faith save anyone?  Suppose you see a brother or sister who has no food or clothing, and you say, “Good-bye and have a good day; stay warm and eat well” but then you don’t give that person any food or clothing.  What good does that do?  So you see, faith by itself isn’t enough.  Unless it produces good deeds, it is dead and useless.     James 1:14-17 NLT

4. V – VALUE OTHERS ABOVE YOURSELF

Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.    Philippians 2:3,4

5. E – ENGAGE YOUR SPIRITUAL GIFTS

"As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace."  1 Peter 4:10

6. R – RELY ON GOD’S STRENGTH

"...whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ."     1 Peter 4:11
